Terry Murphy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Terry Martin Murphy of Ligonier who passed peacefully on August 29, 2024 at the age of 79.

Born on May 14, 1945, to George and Alverda Murphy, Terry loved the outdoors. He was a graduate of Ligonier Valley High School and St. Vincent College where he earned a degree in education. Terry was a beloved special education teacher for the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit for 36 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, belonging to the Laughlintown Protective Association, Oakbrook Golf League and Ligonier Country Club. He also served on the Ligonier Borough Council.

Terry is survived by his two children, Sean and Katie (O’Rourke). His legacy lives on through his four grandchildren, Connor and his fiancé, Meg, Libby, Parker and Brooks, who he loved dearly. Terry’s passing is preceded by his beloved sister Bonnie. He is survived by his sister, Georgia Pavlik of Latrobe.

Please join the family in commemorating his life during a public viewing to be held at Snyder-Green Funeral Home in Ligonier, PA on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 4-6pm. We invite all who knew him to join us in remembering Terry at his funeral on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:30am held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ligonier.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Terry has joined the love of his life, Pam, and is finally at peace. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
