Ronald N. Smithley, a beloved member of the Ligonier community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 17, 2024, in his hometown of Ligonier, Pa.
Throughout his journey, Ronald wore many hats with pride and dedication. He served in the Air Force, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. Ronald had a passion for hunting and fishing, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. However, his proudest accomplishments included volunteering with meals on wheels, being the longtime Caretaker of the Lebanon Cemetery and serving as a Fireman for the Waterford VFC for over 25 years. His selflessness and dedication to these roles left a lasting impact on those around him.
Ronald's legacy lives on through the love he shared with his surviving family members: his devoted wife Lloyda Smithley, his cherished children Scott (Erin) Smithley, Steve (Hope) Smithley, Amy (Rachel) Taylor, Patti (Rich) Cole (Step-Daughter), as well as Jacob and Nicole (Grandchildren), Brittney and Michelle (Step-Grandchildren), Waylon (Great-Grandson), and McKenzie and Delanie (Step-Great-Grandchildren), Robert Smithley (Brother) and his late sisters Ella and Jean; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received on Friday at Snyder-Green Funeral Home 402 E. Church St. Ligonier from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM a Funeral Service will be held in Oak Grove Church of Christ Saturday at 11:00 AM.
