Nicolae Pupeza

Nicolae G. Vasile Pupeza, 81, of Ligonier, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at his home.

Born April 2, 1940, in Cluj, Romania, he was a son of the late Ion and Eugenia (Mailat) Pupeza.

Nicolae was a graduate of the Institute of Theatre and Film Arts (IATC) in Bucharest, Romania.  He went on to become a very well known performer throughout Europe.  After Nicolae emigrated to the United States, he was invited to return to Romania and Germany to perform.   He also worked at the Bethlen Home for 16 years.

As a skilled artisan, Nicolae in remodeling his home, carved the fireplace mantle, lamps, tables, window frames all by hand.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Josefina Andrada "Anda" (Petrescu) Pupeza; a son, Antoniu (Ewa Czerniak) Pupeza; a daughter, Codrina (Adrian) Vierita; granddaughters, Vivianna Pupeza, and Mica Vierita; a sister, Ariana Mihaescu; and a brother, Mihai Pupeza.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11 am, in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. Father Anthony Carbone as celebrant.  Interment will be private.
