Age 86, of Latrobe, passed away at home on July 29, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Jack C. Murphy; loving mother of Kimberly (Scott) Hunter, David (Judith) Murphy, and Patrick (Jodi) Murphy; loving Grandma of Patrick (Caitlin) Murphy, Daniel Hunter, Brian (Hannah) Murphy, Heath Murphy, Emily Hunter, Carson Murphy and Madison Murphy; sister of Susan Smith, Rita Smith Misner, the late Jane Smith Fawks and the late Joseph D. Smith; daughter of the late J. Dean and Mary Claire Smith. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary Lou was born in Latrobe in 1938 and graduated from Ligonier High School in the year 1956. She spent her professional career working at Kennametal, Union City School District Library, Crown Creative Industries and retired from Westmoreland Hospital after 23 years in medical records. Mary Lou loved enjoying good food, playing games and spending time with her family & friends. She was strong willed and loved fiercely. She will be remembered for her generosity, humor and deep love for her family. As she said, “I love all my grandkids. There’s nothing better than grandkids.” Memorial donations can be made in Mary Lou's name to the Charcot-Marie Tooth Association (https://www.cmtausa.org). Family and friends will be received on Sunday August 4th, 2024 from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M and 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home 402 E. Church St. Ligonier Pa 15658 where a funeral service will be on Monday August 5th at 11 A.M. with Pastor Paul McCracken officiating. Interment to follow at Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
