Joseph Richard Keyser, peacefully passed away on August 20,2024, at the age of 84. Born on December 28, 1939, in Stahlstown, Pennsylvania, Joseph lived a life characterized by hard work, military service, and a love for the simple pleasures of life.
Joseph was a proud veteran of the Marine Corps, where he served honorably and was discharged at the rank of Corporal (E4). His commitment to serving his country was a testament to his character and values. After his service, he devoted many years to working as a heavy equipment operator for Local 66, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community alike.
Joseph was known for his vibrant spirit and a wide range of interests. He had a passion for pitching horseshoes, which he enjoyed in the company of friends and family. Camping and gardening were also among his favorite pastimes, allowing him to connect with nature and foster relationships with loved ones. He was notably fond of drinking Coors Light, often relishing it during gatherings.
He is survived by his loving family, including his loving wife Marie Monticue Keyser whom he was married to for a blissful 59 years;
His daughter, Tina Keyser, his son, Terry Keyser (Lori Keyser); and his daughter, Sherry Boots Cross (Frank Cross). He is also survived by his siblings: Kenneth, Gladys, Loretta, Ronnie, Janet, Ella, and Audrey, and Roberta. Additionally, Joseph was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins, all of whom will cherish his memory.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sylvia Keyser, and brother Elmer.
His joy for life and stubborn nature will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. We will always remember him saying…Been there, done that, don’t need to do it again.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Joseph's life at Snyder-Green Funeral Home, located at 402 E Church St., Ligonier, Pennsylvania, 15658. A viewing will be held on August 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on August 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
