Galvin Leighty

Galvin "Peep" Leighty, born on October 19, 1959, in Latrobe, PA, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025. He was a beloved member of the community and a dedicated participant at Bethel Lutheran Church in Latrobe, as well as a cherished member of the Seniors of Stahlstown.

Galvin's life was filled with fond memories created through simple joys. He appreciated the warmth of wood fire hot dog roasts and found great pleasure in shooting pool, fishing, completing jigsaws, and playing bingo. His engaging personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his family, including his sister, Harriet Cheryl Leighty, his brother, Joseph N. (Patricia) Leighty, his nephew, Joseph D. (Paula) Leighty, and his niece, Rebecca A. (Mike) Leighty-Passcarella. Galvin was preceded in death by his father, Dale D. Leighty; his mother, Anna (Rafferty) Leighty; his sister, Daryl (Michael) Comella; and his grandparents, Dorris and Harriet A. Leighty, and Emmet and Nancy Rafferty.

Galvin's family is grateful for the unwavering care provided by his caregivers, Emily and Kelly, as well as the support from UPMC- East Hospital staff and also Latrobe’s Dr. Reyna and Ann. They also wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to friends Garnett, John, Tom, Earl, Kenny, and many others who brightened Galvin's life through letters, cards, day trips, and shared moments throughout the years.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on Thursday, February 20, 2025, commencing at 10:00 AM at Snyder-Green Funeral Home, located at 402 E Church St., Ligonier, PA. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Galvin "Peep" Leighty will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched
