Elizabeth Stahl

d. October 5, 2024

Elizabeth Luella (Libby/Dolly) Tuttle Stahl of Ligonier PA age 89, passed away October 5, 2024 in Somerset PA. She was the daughter of the late Thomas R. Tuttle and Goldie Mae (McClelland) Tuttle. She has joined her beloved late husband of 48 years Clarence P. Stahl, darling daughter Tammie Helen Stahl Glessner, brother Charles Tuttle and sister Helen Yawczak. She is survived by her children Diane (John) Kellner, Byron (Christine) Stahl, Gordon Stahl, Debbie (Pat) Lamaestra, Paul (Lisa) Stahl, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and Pastor Wayne Gillespie who she thought of as another son.

Libby was a lifetime member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church where she welcomed neighbors and first-time visitors. She sang in the choir for many years, taught Sunday school, helped decorate for holidays, was a lay reader, home communion assistant, member of LCW, helped with many social functions and assisted with putting together the Mighty Oak. She never served on the council but made her views known. She could be blunt, and few people were at a loss as to what she thought. She was a den mother for the cub scouts. She was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Lioness Club since 1977 and member of the Chestnut Ridge Lions Club since 1985. There she served in several officer positions to include president. She also received many awards and accommodations including the Melvin Jones Award, distinguished service awards and attended many conventions. She was known for making centerpieces for holidays to give as door prizes. She loved serving those less fortunate than herself. She felt that her greatest achievement was being a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She never met a stranger and accepted people for what they were.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to all who provided home care, personal care at the Patriot, ViaQuest Hospice, as well as those who would visit or offer her prayers and good wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the Chestnut Ridge meals on wheels, Chestnut Ridge Lions Club, and ViaQuest Hospice.

Friends and family will be received from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday October 9th, 2024 at Snyder-Green at Snyder Funeral Home located at 402 Church Street, Ligonier, PA .
