Dennis Charles Kuhnemund

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Charles Kuhnemund, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Dennis departed this world on June 28, 2023 in peace and content to have lived a long and happy life among the people he loved. He was the oldest son of the late Wilda E. Beake and Charles H. Kuhnemund of New York.

Born on August 20, 1940 in Brooklyn, N.Y, Dennis was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him. He possessed a quick wit, a kind heart, a warm smile as well as an adventurous spirit that always made you forget your troubles.

Dennis was a loving husband to his devoted wife, Margaret (Peggy). They shared a wonderful life together for more than 40 years of marriage until her passing in 2019. He was a kind and thoughtful father to Peggy’s children, John Gammon (Maria) and Alyce Gammon Fiedler (Craig). He was also a devoted grandfather to his four grandchildren: Caroline, Henry, Grace and Lilley Fiedler.

Dennis graduated from Wantagh High School, Wantagh, N.Y. in 1958. He attended the University of Virginia from 1958 to 1962 and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. After college, he served in the US Navy until his honorable discharge in 1965.

In his professional life, Dennis was a successful businessman in the property and casualty industry for more than 30 years as the sole proprietor of the Cook-Kuhnemund Insurance Agency.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Dennis was an active member of his community. He was a member of the Vestry at St. MIchael’s of the Valley  and was an active supporter of the Virginia Jaycees, having been inducted into their Hall of Fame on February 12, 1994.

Public visitation for friends will be held at Snyder-Green Funeral Home, 402 E.Church Street, Ligonier, PA 15658 on Friday, June 30 from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm. There will be a burial service at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 2535 State Route 381, Rector, PA 15677 with full military honors at 1PM  on Saturday, July 1. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michaels of the Valley in memory of Dennis Kuhnemund.
