Andrew W. Gasper

Andrew W. Gasper of Stahlstown died Thursday, June 22, 2023.  He was born in Acme.  After serving in the U.S. Navy for four years, Andy worked at Kennametal for 38 years.  Always ready to help when called upon, he attended to his siblings when needed and was a caretaker to his neighbors, Frank and Janet Stanford.  Andy was a gifted machinist and welder, able to fix almost anything that was brought to him.  A man of integrity and generosity towards all, he enjoyed working on his property, chatting with neighbors and friends, and watching the birds from his porch.  Andy was a member of St. Raymond of the Mountains Parish in Donegal.  He was a former parishioner of St. Boniface Parish in Acme, where he served as an usher for many years.  Above all his accomplishments, he valued family the most, especially his girls and Sunday family dinners together.  A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Ella; his five daughters Debora (Leonard), Catherine (Jack), Karen (Jon), Mary (Bryan), and Francine (Anthony); his grandchildren Andrew (Arissa), Adam, Jacob (Jillian) and son AJ, Megan, Samantha, Alexandra, Christina, Jonathan, Louis, Allison, Anna, and James; his sisters Dorothy Williams, Josephine Casurole, and Betty Shannon; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Mary Frankovich Gasper, and siblings Theresa Gasper, Irene Gasper, the Rev. Basil Gasper, Marie Duda, and John Gasper.  Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at SNYDER-GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 402 East Church Street, Ligonier.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at St. Raymond of the Mountains Parish in Donegal at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
